The Friendship of Feedback
What if we embraced feedback like a good meal with a great friend?
It usually takes a moment to get past the initial sting feedback brings, but once we’re able to digest the observation we can allow it to nourish our personal growth and deepen our connections. However, too often we stumble at mistaking instruction for criticism and feedback as the fuel of our enemies. We would rather entertain entitlement and instead of becoming better, we grow bitter. Yet, if we welcome feedback as our dear friend, no matter how difficult it is, we’ll eat the fruit of becoming more socially conscious and responsible, and be better at what we do and how we do it.
”The words of the wise are like cattle prods—painful but helpful. Their collected sayings are like a nail-studded stick with which a shepherd drives the sheep.“ Ecclesiastes 12:11 NLT
